Project Management Office

The CUIMC PMO is sponsored by Timothy Crimmins, M.D. CUIMC CMIO, and Chad Neal, CUIMC CIO.

The mission is to advocate for and facilitate the use of healthcare technology to support the clinical, academic and research missions of ColumbiaDoctors, Columbia University Irving Medical Center and the Columbia University Vagelos College of Physician and Surgeons.

The PMO has the authority to promote Columbia CMIO Office-wide organizational change. It provides oversight to ensure projects are aligned with the organization’s business strategy. It fosters an effective, enterprise approach to Build Project Management discipline and provide transparency to project effectiveness and resourcing.

Key goals are:

  •      Leverage existing project management and department resources to improve transparency and standardization across the institution (CU IT, CUIMC IT, FPO) 
  •      Communicate progress and metrics of success
  •      Establish standard project management methodology
  •      Utilize standard project management policies and documentation materials
  •      Gain economy of scale by establishing IT Project Intake Processes, an IT Project Life-cycle, and Project Management tools (project documentation, project plans, and status reports).

The CUIMC PMO provides oversight throughout the project life cycle. This includes using documentation for each stage of the project which are available upon request:  i.e. project request, executive dashboard, status reports, project charters, etc.
